HOLINESS
Is Holiness required for Salvation ?
b1 Peter 1.13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus
Christ: 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as He which has called you is holy, so be you holy in all manner of conversation
(Gk: an as tro ph e: behaviour); 16 Because it is written, Be you holy; for I am holy. 17 And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every
man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18 For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptable things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who truely was fore-ordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifested in these last times for you. 21 Who by Him do believe in God, that
raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22 Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto
unfeigned love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptable seed, but of incorruptable, by the Word of God, which lives and abides for ever. It must be understood that Peter is writing this to the Elect (1Peter 1.2; the Chosen); and it must be understood that many are called but few are chosen (Mt.20.16b; 22:14). 1Peter 1.2 Elect (Gk. Ek lek tos: to select or choose; Chosen) according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father, through sanctification ( Gk. Hag i as mos; purification,
holiness) of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively
hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through
manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious that gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though
now you see Him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even
the salvation of your souls. It must be understood that salvation is of hope; and is by grace through living faith (see study on 'Faith toward God' in First Principles on this website). Romans 8.24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man sees why does he yet hope
for? 25 But if we hope for what we see not, then we do with patience wait for it. Matthew 24.13; Mark 13.13b But they that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved 1Peter 1.9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the
salvation of your souls. Philippians 2.12 Wherefore, my beloved, as you have also obeyed,
not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Fear of God; and trembling at His Word). 2Corinthians 7.1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Hebrews 12.14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man will see the Lord. How does Hebrews 12.14 fit with
Revelations 1.7 ? Revelations 1.7 Behold, He comes with clouds; and every
eye shall see Him, and they also that pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. The holy shall see the Lord: the unholy shall see the Judge; and hide themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and call upon the mountains and the rocks to fall
upon them, and hide them from the face of Him that sits upon the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
How are we made holy ? 1Thessalonians 5.8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the brestplate of faith and love; and for a helmet the
hope of salvation. 9 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him (see study on: 'Resting in the Lord'). 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In everything give thanks: for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance
of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify (Gk: hag i ad
zo: to make holy) you wholly: and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He that calls you, Who also will do it. It
is the God of peace that makes us holy. We must rest in the Lord, remain in His presence,
abide in the Vine, to receive His peace. Without God's peace, there can be no holiness. Heb 12 .14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness without which no man will see
the Lord. Colossians 3.15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also you are called in one body; and be you thankful. It is the God of peace that will bruise Satan under our feet. Romans 16.20a And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. It is the God of peace that shall make us perfect. Hebrews 13.20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect
in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever. Amen. Philippians 4.4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything
by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God which
passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through (Gk: en: in) Christ Jesus. The peace of God is in
Christ Jesus. As we rest in Him, as we abide in Him, as we dwell in Him, as we live in the Light of His presence, we manifest His peace in our lives; the
fruit of peace. Jesus is the Prince of peace. The Gospel is the gospel of
peace.Jesus' priesthood is the priesthood of peace. He made peace on the cross. He preached
peace. He is our peace. Where is His peace
?It is not in the world. Matthew 10.34 Think
not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.Luke 12.51 Suppose you that I am come to give peace on earth ? I tell you, No, but rather division: What did the angel of the Lord, and the multitude of the heavenly host mean, when they praised God, and said on the day of the Saviour's birth; Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, good will toward men ? John 14.27 Peace I leave
with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. He did not give His peace the way the world gives: when the world gives us something, we've got it; but to receive His peace, we must labour
to enter into, and remain, in His presence; resting in Him; abiding in the Vine; dwelling in the secret place of he most high; walking in the light; fellowshiping with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. His peace, and all the fruit of the Spirit, and everything that He has to give us is in His presence.
And in His peace comes holiness. As Israel of old, with Joshua, entered into the promised land to find rest, so we must
enter into, and remain in, the ever-presence of the holy Spirit of Christ Jesus, to receive His peace;
and all the fruit of the Spirit. John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in
him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing. In Christ Jesus is everything that we need in this life, and forever. God's peace is given on earth only to those who will labour to enter into His peace. (see study on 'Resting in the Lord'
on this website.) Many are convinced that all they have to do to rest in the Lord is to believe that they are already abiding in Him and just cease from all their own efforts,
and let God do it, trusting in blind or dead faith: ignoring the scriptures that exhort us to labour to enter into His rest, in living, saving faith. After we have entered into His rest, and are abiding in Him in Spirit and truth, then we cease from all our own works. Many who are baptised into Jesus Christ, do not, in truth, remain
continually in HIs presence and walk in newness of life, but fall back into some of our old worldly desires and preoccupations, and thence it becomes a labour to enter back into, and remain in, His Spiritual presence; in Spirit and in Truth. John4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: For the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The truth is, His Holy Spirit is ever-present with us, and in us; and when we walk in awareness
of His presence, knowing and acknowledging that we are with Him, constantly aware of His presence, we are resting in Him in Spirit and in Truth. When we forget His presence, He is still with us, but we are not with Him; but are back following our own understanding.Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all
thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. What of those who are not made holy, but die in righteousness ? Revelation 22.11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous,
let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I
believe the holy ( the true overcomers, who have forsaken everything that they have, who have truely cut themselves off from the things of this world, and have denied self, and are dead to the world, and who live in the presence of, and
so are made holy by, the God of Peace), will be in the first resurrection along with the martyrs; and will live and rule and reign with Christ during the thousand year Day of the Lord, in heaven. ( see study on ' Resurrection of the dead'
in First Principles)). The righteous will sleep in
Jesus until the resurrection at the end of the world, at the second appearance of the Lord, and will arise unto holiness in perfect ecstacy and exhileration
at the presence of the Lord, as they rise up to meet Him in the air.I Thess.3:12 And Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward
all men, even as we do toward you: 13 To the end He may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Be ye holy, for I am holy. This is not a creative word of God, spoken
to create holiness in all people, else all would become holy; and this will not happen. It is not a suggestion from God, but a command; and only those who obey God, will be made holy as we rest in Him;
and let Him sanctify us wholly (see study on 'Resting in the Lord'). Heb.12.14 Follow peace
with all men, and holiness, without which no man will see the Lord. Rev.4.8b Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to
come. Pr.9.10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy
is understanding. To know that the Lord God has called His children to be holy;
is understanding. When we know that the Lord is coming again for a church without spot and blameless; we understand. When we know
that without holiness, no one will see the Lord; we understand. 1Pe.1.13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as He which has called you is holy, so be you holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be you holy, for I
am holy. 2Cor.7.1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, the knowledge of the
holy is understanding. The wise man hears the Word
of God, and does it; the foolish, hear the Word of God, and does it not.
Fear God. 1 Peter1:2a Elect according to the foreknowledge of God, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and the
sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: 1Thessalonians 2:13b God hath from the beginning chosen
you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven. 1Thessalonians 4:3a For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, (Sanctification:
Gk. hag i as mos; purification, holiness).
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. O help us Lord, that we may rest in You, and be made holy, In Christ Jesus, Amen! Amen?
